In 1968, Frank "Blue-eyes" Sinatra recorded a song titled "The Lady is a Champ" dedicated to Maureen Starkey, Ringo's wife at the time, as a birthday present to her.

"What was labeled “Apple 1″ (the very first Apple Records recording after The Beatles’ own “Hey Jude”/”Revolution” single), this extremely rare, private re-recording of “The Lady Is a Tramp” (retitled “The Lady Is a Champ”) was made by Sinatra in 1968 as a favor to The Beatles. Longtime Sinatra lyricist Sammy Cahn wrote new lyrics to the song as a birthday gift to Ringo Starr’s wife Maureen.
Only one copy was made, and the tape and masters were destroyed. Since there is only one copy, and since Sinatra and the Beatles were both involved, this may be among the most valuable records in the world." -Original Post

Other songs that had Maureen in mind were Little Willow off the Flaming Pie album.

Thanks So Much for posting this BeatleGirl!! I never knew this existed! :-D So Cool!!

I need to download this song before some how it gets taken off youtube

I'm glad you all enjoyed this hidden gem! From what I've heard, someone close to or Frank Sinatra himself kept the copy of this version, which then leaked, and then later on released by bootleggers, and then eventually going on YouTube. More info here. Maureen got it on her 22nd birthday. Imagine that! How special it must have been to be a Beatle wife :-) I wish I could have been her for a day! Haha<3

That's what I was thinking to do, too, NowhereGirl13! LOL Our occupations can be Pirating Beatleggers!

I dont even know how I knew. A majority of the stuff I know about them I dont even know how I know. Its like I just woke up and knew something new about the beatles lol.

Sadie: Re: And yes Beatlebob, Maureen did indeed have an affair with George Harrison. I read about it in various Beatles books, even one written by Pattie Boyd herself. Interesting fact & interesting song.
WOW!! I never knew that!! Yes, Interesting fact & interesting song!!!

I see from the Link BeatleGirl provided Above: "As The Beatles neared their break-up, the Starkeys' relationship also hit rocky times. George Harrison suddenly confessed his deep love for Maureen one a night at the Starkeys' home. The revelation of George's affair with Maureen put pressure on both their marriages, although Maureen said she didn't want a divorce from Ringo." Really Something!!

BeatleGirl: Thanks for the Link!! Very Interesting Info!!! That sure was a Special Birthday Gift for Maureen!! We Sure DID Enjoy this Hidden Gem!! Thanks Again!! :-D

LMAO!!!! ;-)

NowhereGirl13: Re: "Its like I just woke up and knew something new about the beatles lol. "

I think it seems that way for all of us! LOL! :-)

Even if you think you know "every little thing" about The Beatles, sometimes you can discover even more. ;-)

That's for sure Sadie!! I bet there are lot more things out there about them yet to be discovered! I indeed learned so many things about the Lads I never knew about, from ALL of you guys here!!! :-)

Another thing: Paul McCartney called George a man’s man, who loved manly things that men love. I think he was delicately trying to say “George liked to sleep with women.” Paul said: I don't want to say much, because he was a pal, but he liked the things that men like. He was red-blooded. Paul said this in the George Harrison: Living in the Material World DVD. LOL! In that DVD Eric Clapton also mentioned that he told his friend George that he was falling for Pattie, George replied: “You can have her.” And thought George was hinting around about Swapping with Clapton's girlfriend. Clapton believes, an example of George’s open attitude to sexual relationships. Clapton adds: "To be honest there was a lot of swapping and fooling around." It is rumoured that George slept with Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood’s wife Krissie at a party too. So, besides Maureen, George did get around! LOL! Who knows what other women he may have slept with? LOL! ;-)
