I really like this song, I really do.

Written by George Harrison with his pal Ringo Starr, It Don't Come Easy reached #4 in the US and UK singles charts in 1971.

The released version included Harrison on guitar, Klaus Voorman on bass guitar, Stephen Stills on piano, Ron Cattermole on saxophone and trumpet, Badfinger members Pete Ham and Tom Evans on background vocals, and Starr on drums and lead vocals. -Wiki

George's demo version features  a more louder than subtle "Hare Krishna" chorus.

And here's Ringo's song - the one you're more used to! Doesn't it sound like it was made JUST for him? :)

It don't come easy,
You know it don't come easy.

Got to pay your dues if you wanna sing the blues,
And you know it don't come easy.
You don't have to shout or leap about,
You can even play them easy.

Forget about the past and all your sorrows,
The future won't last,
It will soon be over tomorrow.

I don't ask for much, I only want your trust,
And you know it don't come easy.
And this love of mine keeps growing all the time,
And you know it just ain't easy.

Open up your heart, let's come together,
Use a little love
And we will make it work out better.

Peace, remember peace is how we make it,
Here within your reach
If you're big enough to take it.

Let's talk about this song.

I read a short synopsis of the song's meaning from this book called "All You Need is Love" and 99 other life lessons, and this song's message is that...

Even though you may think that successful, rich people have got it all easy and worked out for the best, the real truth may prove you wrong. You have to be in their shoes to know what it's like, and so really, "it don't come easy" is the point of it all. With success comes sacrifice. If you see movie stars, rock stars, politicians, they're all sacrificing their privacy, peaceful time with their family, and space to just be themselves. With all that money you'd think "oh they've got it easy" -- No, it don't come easy; nothing does. At one point or another, you had to take those baby steps in order to walk, then run. You were crawling at one point and even fell a few times. This is the message of what "It Don't Come Easy" means.

I haven't looked at SongFacts to see what other people think of it, but since I haven't, what's your thoughts on this song?
