ROCKOLLECTIONS: MEMORIAL DAY PT.2 END

The Beatles JUST made the cut in here, lol! With Some Musical Detective Work, at Mike Pell Rockollections:

The Memorial Day Remembrance concludes for this year, but in my heart continues the other 364 days.
This time, I'll open with a song about a guy who, I hate to say it, would have made it easier on his family and himself if he had not come home from war overseas.
The song contains probably the most powerful metaphor I have ever heard!
Included in this closing Chapter, the story of a tune I heard in church being played by the organist- and I couldn't quite understand why.
It called for some Musical Detective Work, and I'll re-create it for you.
To close, what the World needs is what Each of us needs.
Memorial Day is much much more than the unofficial start of Summer.
Please partake in the tradition of A National Moment Of Silence at 3 PM your local time this coming Monday.
My undying Gratitude and Love to all who Serve, Served, and Gave All!

Mike,
You did a Great Memorial Day Show!!
Sam Stone by Tom Prine, a very powerful song about all those veterans that suffer so much after serving. Drugs and PTSD! :-( Two very powerful songs after that too!! The Ballad Of Ira Hayes, and There But For Fortunes!
I see what you mean about the Paul Simon song!! American Tune! I see the connection: Peter, Paul, and Mary.....Because All Men Are Brothers! Paul Simon's song had Beautiful Music! But, the Peter, Paul, and Mary song Says It All with the words! Then, St. Mathews Passion! You solved the question why the organist in church played that tune! And you couldn't understand why. Very Good Musical Detective Work on your part!! And Yes, what the World Needs is what Each of us Needs.....Hope, Faith, Love......
And of Course, The Beatles! All You Need Is LOVE!! A Great way to close the show!
Memorial Day Really Means Gratitude and Love to all who Serve, Served, and Gave All!!
A Great Tribute!!
I will partake in the tradition of A National Moment Of Silence at 3 PM Today!
You Did a Fantastic Show Honoring All That Serve and Served, and Gave All!!
Thank You for Sharing this with us, Mike!
Have a good Memorial Day,
Bob

Hey Mike, Thanks for another great episode! I love the patriotic theme. I enjoyed hearing Johnny Cash's "The Ballad of Ira Hayes", "Because All Men Are Brothers" by Peter Paul & Mary, and of course The Beatles' "All You Need Is Love". I will be participating in the moment of silence on Monday. Have a good Memorial Day!
