:-( I know this is a sad topic, but I'd like to know if any of you have been made fun of for loving The Beatles? How lightly or severely was it? I know peers would sometimes be cruel and try to change how or what to like, but also older people, in my experience have tried to disassociate me from my passion of loving the best band to ever enter my life.

For example, you would think that my mom who was alive during Beatlemania and the solo Beatle years would encourage me to keep playing Beatles songs, well, to much dismay, if I play too much of anything, she would get mad at me and say to turn it off! Sometimes, she'd even blame The Beatles for anything I've done wrong or incorrectly...

Also when my mom's friend (who is a Rolling Stones fan) heard from my mom that I'd love to see Paul/The Beatles at MSG, he just laughed it off saying that they were... dead? or something? Or disbanded. Something along those lines. I think he got smug how RS were still together and half of The Beatles are gone.

In the Beatles chatrooms I used to create/attend, there'd be people who would come in and try to play something else because "too much of The Beatles" is a bad thing, apparently. I think not.

My friend's friend who saw that I had loads of Beatles bootlegs said I should sell them all on eBay because I had "too much" Beatles. Well, I have none of that anymore. (Money went to bills.)

JP Walrus at times tried to upset me (years ago) by saying The Beatles was maybe his favorite band, then saying that no--CSN was his favorite, then The Beatles next. He also tried to tease me how I loved anyone who resembled a Beatle telling the most obvious -- that I only like so and so because he looks like a Beatle. Um... And that bootlegs were crap because they sound bad. Like telling me something that I find interesting sounds bad would make me not listen to it? I love The Beatles from every inch of the way. He also liked saying that I only like John  Paul  George  or  Ringo for their looks! He told me to check out other bands because The Beatles are not the only band in the world.

This is kinda off-but since I am of Asian ethnicity, people automatically think "Omg, you broke up The Beatles" and they think it's the funniest thing they've ever thought of. Or when I attend a Beatley event, someone would mention "Yoko's here! Better leave." Something like that, to the exaggerated part.

A friend was also being a meany when I didn't know the latest Paul news and he told me that I'm just an "opportunist" who just tries to be a poser by pretending to like The Beatles.

And at school one time, I was overhearing a school attendant talking about how this girl wore Beatles pins all over her shirt. I thought that was awesome, so I butted in saying how I'm a fan of The Beatles, too. Then he went on to continue to say that "too bad that half of the the better Beatles are gone, because George & John were the greatest. All we have left now is Paul..." ... "with those corny songs..." ... "and Ringo" and he shook his head. Paul is my favorite! I stopped my excitement, then went back to my work. How could anyone think that? They were a great band.

My mom was also being nasty by saying her fave Beatle might have switched from John to Paul just because Paul is still around. :(

I also don't like it when people use DEAD and Beatles in the same sentence. <--- I had to do that.

This guy I met told me that just because someone doesn't like The Beatles shouldn't mean that I can't be friends with them. Really? I think about The Beatles 24 hours a day, 8 DAYS A WEEK! What do you mean I can be friends with someone who isn't a Beatles fan? I know, silly, but... I can't live without my JPGR!

People are shallow where ever you go, but remember All You Need is Love. :-) <3

People are shallow where ever you go, indeed. I've sadly been made fun of alot in life, but surprisingly I don't think I've ever been made fun of over my Beatle obsession. Some of the stuff you have described here of what people have said is horrible and extremely rude/mean, in my opinion. I've loved the boys for about half of my life now, and before it became "cool" for young "fans". Now that I am more mature, I laugh whenever I see posers and don't get upset when someone says something that offends me. People like Beatle Girl, Beatle Nut and myself now THAT's examples of true dedicated hardcore Beatlemaniacs. ;-)

I must be bothering them so much that they end up wanting to start fights with me lol

It doesn't bother me at all when someone says "The Beatles SUCK" but more so when people I know personally try to make me feel bad or think they can easily change how I feel about The Beatles by saying mean or shallow things. Well, it won't work, no matter how hard they try.

I joined a message board with my username beatlegirl. I introduced myself, said hello, and I did not even have to say anything about The Beatles, and one person posted "Paul McCartney sucks". I don't know why anyone would think that's an appropriate to say to welcome someone to a community board. I didn't go on that message board anymore because I felt unwelcomed as a member and other members were just saying to ignore it. LOL really? He can get away with that and I'm supposed to accept it? Hahaha, and what's worst is that they were Vegans. It makes me think someone was unhappy with their meal that day.

Another note... Paul is a Vegetarian! I guess they're mad at him because he's not a VEGAN.

@Sadie & @Lennon_Lover I'm glad nasty remarks don't bother either of you! I just don't see how attacking something or someone you love is justifiable. It's just as dumb as "Yo Momma" jokes. lol  The next time someone tells me "The Beatles SUCK", I will tell them "your mother should know"

(or Grandmother, lol)

LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

So today I was playing The Beatles on my speakers, and my mom said "No More Beatles!"

I said "What?" She said "No more Beatles -- They're not for springtime" WTFAB! >:O

Last night Sadie and JP Walrus were trying to figure out why would anyone think The Beatles are attractive! LOL

JP said that the lead singer of the Grassroots is more attractive and even if he was gay, JPGR still wouldn't be any cuter.

I was made fun of mercilessly all of my life until Beatles Rock Band came out & they suddenly became "trendy," but I was an awesome little kid. I didn't hide my love the way I did with other "embarrassing" things. In fact, I would do all I could to advertise it! teehee
