Well said, BeatleBob!!! :) Very interesting to know how songs came about.
John was so imaginative, always made up new sayings! Sugarplum Fairys?!
LOL OH Shit - Oh Sugarplum fairys!
I always Loved this Too!! YES! John's voice is One Of A Kind! It does sound haunting here! Yet, beautiful and calming. I Love the lyrics he wrote too! "it had depth and meaning, imaginative and playful, at the same time serious and introspective...". I know what you mean, I couldn't agree more!! John did that in a lot of songs he wrote! Like George Martin once said, he had a Dolly approach to his lyrics. I Love it when Paul intercepted too in the middle, as well. It IS like a new song interlude!! And with the magic of George Martin helping they wanted to make that ever increasing sound to make the two songs meet! Loved That! That's why Mal Evans was counting the bars for the later use of that ever increasing wall of strings etc! Just Magic! Yes, there's just so many things like this to The Beatles!! Love This Early Take of the song!! And love how John warmed up his voice by saying sugar plum fairys! And Yeah!!
Everybody Spoke and I went into a dream.........."Oh Shit!" I Loved that too!! LOL!!! :-)
Always loved this! :) I also love John's voice. It's one of a kind... sounds haunting here, yet beautiful and calming. Love the lyrics he wrote, it had depth and meaning, imaginative and playful, at the same time serious and introspective... There's just so many to The Beatles... I love that Paul intercepted too in the middle. It's like a new song interlude... even that "Oh shit!" makes me giggle years after listening to it! Lol!
Even in this studio version, I Love John's Voice!!
Give it a Listen. :-)
