ROCKOLLECTIONS: CHRISTMAS PARTY 2014 PT.2

The Annual Two-Week Christmas Party continues!
And I see now we can pop Hanukkah in there too.
This time I'll continue a tradition started a long time ago.
I'll play the Beatles Christmas Message of 1964- since it is 2014, keeping that close distance of 50 years!
These are the little plexidiscs they would send to their Fan Club Members- but 50 years...do you believe that, oh man, lol?
Also I'll do something I've been meaning to do for years, but always got distracted by other Music.
At long last, I will play the Emerson, Lake & Palmer Christmas EP all the way through!
This 2nd half went fast, I was shocked to find I couldn't play any more Music.
But see, that's why it takes at least two weeks for the Christmas Party.
Do give a listen!
To be continued next week!

Thanks Mike!! :-)

No, that email address you sent the Beatles things to is the Wrong one. That address is for The Site, and BeatleGirl who runs the site will probably get that. ;-)

I'll send you an email here, now that we added each other as friends. You can send "Friends" that you added, emails here either by clicking on your inbox at the top of the front page. Or, by going to your friend's page and clicking on send email under the Profile Picture.

Bob, I added you as a friend too.

For the email address, I sent the Beatle things to mail@beatlesabbeyroad.ning.com.

Is that correct and working?
Mike

Last week we hit Middle Age.
This week The Cycle Of Life takes us into Old Age.
And while it has its Joys, it comes with its own Perils too- Loneliness, Senility, the ever present Specter Of The Grim Reaper to name a few.
But so what, we made it this far, Let's Grow Old Together!

Hi Mike,
LOL! I also had to refresh my memory about the dates of the bands I saw at the Fillmore. I found a website that will help refresh your memory.  ;-)

http://www.fillmore-east.com/showlist.html

WOW! I haven't listened to the Fugs in years! Very Interesting that you're gonna play them soon on the show! Virgin Forest from the Fugs Second Album might be an interesting pick. LOL!! Just Kidding! ;-) Yes, you have to be "Careful" with a group like that! LOL!! I look forward to listening to that show! :-)
Hopefully you'll get to meet Robert Christgau, even though you disagree with him more often than not! LOL! Would be nice if you meet him though.
Yes, it was nice that I found The Beatles Complete Christmas Records on Youtube. I Agree about the sound quality though. WOW! I'd Really Appreciate it if you could send me one or two! I'm sure it will sound better!  re: "and by next Christmas I'll make sure you have them all." That would be Fantastic!! Thank You So Much for the offer!! :-) Feel free to send me an email Here anytime!
And Thanks for the Links for ROCKOLLECTIONS: THE CYCLE OF LIFE PT.5!
A Very Nice selection of songs you picked in ROCKOLLECTIONS: THE CYCLE OF LIFE PT.5! Cats In A Cradle, and Father and Son brought back memories for me! Then the Beatles "She's Leaving Home". That was a Great song to include! Love that song! And I see why you included it!  re: "And the next step in The Cycle Of Life is Having Kids of Your Own. Raising them, until the day comes when they grow up and Leave Home Themselves."
"Those little ingrates, lol!"
LOL!!!  ;-)
I never heard "I Choose You", a Very Nice Song! I Enjoyed it very much!
Did you get Married last week?  re: "Last week we had the actual wedding ceremony." Congratulations!! :-) That's Great!! :-)
OR, am I Wrong about that??  re: "A Part That I Sat Out, Getting Married". LOL!   ;-)
Either Way, I Really Enjoyed the Show!! :-)
A Happy New Year again to You my friend,
Bob  :-)

Bob,
Damn, I can't remember who I saw at the Fillmore, lol!
I am sure there is a website that has all the shows- I gotta take a look to refresh the memory.
I was just listening to the Fugs recently, gonna play them soon on the show, careful with a group like that though, lol!
I would like to meet Robert Christgau, even though I disagree with him more often than not!
Nice you found The Beatles Complete Christmas Records on Youtube, although the sound quality on Youtube leaves a lot to be desired.
I may send you one or two anyway, it'll sound better- and by next Christmas I'll make sure you have them all.
Finally, the Beatles are in this half show...be surprised when you hear them, lol!
Happy New Year again buddy,
Mike

Hi Mike,
I see you were about the same age going to the Fillmore East too. WOW! You seen Mountain & Traffic, they were Great Groups! What other Groups did you see there?
Yeah, I did see a Great bunch of bands there. I loved seeing all of them!
LOL!! Yes, those hippies were Very generous with that funky smelling marijuana! ;-) And as you did, I pretended to smoke it too. ;-)
Yeah, you were a lot closer to the Fillmore only living a few blocks away on 13th Street! The trip into the city was well worth it for me though! Yes, when my cousin met Ed Sanders from the Fugs he started going to partys with a few members of The Fugs. At one party he met Allen Ginsberg. He talked to Allen Ginsberg at a few of The Fugs gatherings. Ed Sanders introduced my cousin to Robert Christgau when Christgau was writing for The Village Voice. And met John Hammond through Robert Christgau. Yeah, he did know some heavyweight people from the Village scene back then! :-)
Thanks again for helping me hear the Christmas EP by ELP!!
After you mentioned that you have The Beatles' plexidiscs from 1963 to 1969 I started looking on the web for them. I found "The Beatles - Complete Christmas Records - 1963 to 1969 - 45 RPM - Flexi-Disc" on Youtube and posted it Here.

http://beatlesabbeyroad.ning.com/video/the-beatles-complete-christm...

Thanks So Much for the offer though, to see if you had the ones from '63 and '64 on your computer!! :-)
It would be Great if you play The Beatles in any of your shows that you'll post them Here Too!! I'd Really Appreciate that!! :-)
Thank You! A Happy New Year to You My Friend,
Bob  :-)

Bob,
I was about that age going to the Fillmore East to see Mountain & Traffic & other groups.
You saw quite a great bunch of bands, Dr. John, "The Vanilla Fudge", and "Jimi Hendrix and the Band of Gypsys!
Those hippies were very generous with that funky smelling marijuana, lol!
And you pretended to smoke it too, LOL!
Yeah I was a lot closer than you.
Your cousin knew some heavyweight peoplefrom the Village alright, WOW!
Proud I finally helped you hear the Christmas EP by ELP.
I'll look and see if I still have the Beatles Christmas Message from 1963 on the computer.
You want 1964?
If I play the Beatles in any show, I'll post it here too.
Happy New Year my friend,
Mike

Mike,

You're Very Welcome for the kind words!

Yeah, my older cousin turned me on to the Fillmore East. He's 6 years older than I am. I was 17 when I seen Van Morrison there. Loved it! I also seen "Dr. John, The Night Tripper", "The Vanilla Fudge", a band from california named "AUM", and "Jimi Hendrix and the Band of Gypsys" on December 31, 1969. That was the Best show for me there! :-) Blew me away seeing Jimi!!

LOL!! It was the same for me there, I was young when I went there too. The first time I went there I asked my cousin what's that funky smell? He said that's marijuana cousin! ;-) Sure enough a few minutes later a joint was passed our way. And I pretended to smoke it too! LOL!  That kept happening through the concert! LOL! ;-) WOW! You only lived a few blocks away from there! At the time I was living on Long Island, Suffolk County. My Father worked nights in Manhattan, on the way there he dropped me off at my cousin's apartment in the Bronx to spend a couple of days there with him sometimes. That's when I seen the shows at the Fillmore on some of those visits.

I remember my cousin telling me towards the end of 1966 he was joining the "Pepsi Generation". LOL! He used to hang out in the Village and became friends with a couple of "The FUGS". Hanging out with them he met some interesting people. Allen Ginsberg, Robert Christgau, and John Hammond. I lost touch with him during that time. In 1968 I started seeing him again and that's when he started turning me on to The Village scene. And The Fillmore etc. Was a real eye opener for me! LOL!

I seen quite a few other concerts on Long Island with my friends in the early 70's and after. I've seen "Badfinger" once. I saw "The Allman Brothers" a couple of times. The first time I seen them Duane Allman and Berry Oakley where still alive. Seen Santana a couple of times. Jefferson Starship and a couple of other concerts. The Only Beatle I seen in concert was "Paul" at Giants Stadium on July 9, 1990. The Best Concert for Me!! :-)  Well, I'm rambling on here. ;-)

Yes, the Christmas EP by ELP wasn't a popular album. So, it was good idea to play it! Was the First time I heard it. That particular Christmas message from The Beatles I never heard before! So, it was a Real Treat for me! :-) I'll try to see if I can find the Christmas message on the internet from 1963! :-) WOW! It's Great that you have them ALL from '63 to '69!!

Yes, I Agree!! :-) And Thanks Mike!! A Happy New Year to You!!

Thanks again for the link to ROCKOLLECTIONS: CHRISTMAS PARTY 2014 PT.2!!
