ROCKOLLECTIONS: THE DAY THE MUSIC DIED PT.2

The Beatles are in this Episode, and don't forget, The Beatles took their name for its similarity to Buddy Holly & The CRICKETS- Beatles...Crickets, get it?

The the Part One of this show turned out pretty well too, if you are interested.

Moving on with the second half of a show done 50 Years To The Day after that Infamous Plane Crash on Feb. 3rd 1959, this Chapter is all Buddy Holly.
To me, Buddy ranks closely up there with the Beatles, and there is a real connection between them.
The Beatles chose their name because they wanted something similar to The Crickets- something that was clever and had two meanings.
I'll have Music from both.
But the most remarkable thing in here, and you may never have heard it, is an interview Alan Freed did with Buddy Holly just a few months before the Crash.
There are the two them laughing and joking about all the dangerous Plane Rides they had taken on tour together the year before!
It's very eerie...almost surreal!
Give a listen, it's a nice collection of Rock & Roll and not all 50's Oldies!
Continued next week.

Sadie & Bob, you are right.

Beatles did a great job with Buddy's Words Of Love, hardly changed it but added to it with their harmonies!

Sadie: Yes, I thought it was kind of creepy how Joe B. Mauldin passed away around the time of the anniversary of the tragic Buddy Holly plane crash too! Sad!! :-(

I heard Crickets bassist Joe B. Mauldin died very recently. I thought it was kind of creepy how he passed away around the time of the anniversary of the tragic Buddy Holly plane crash. :-(

Sadie Rita,

I don't put all my podcasts here because they all don't include the Beatles.

But while you are at that Podomatic site you can always find about 10 other recent shows you can play.

I LOVE Buddy Holly, almost as much as the Beatles, lol!

Of course I know about Ricky Nelson, I'm a HUGE fan of his too- and he pops up from time to time.

Since he's a favorite of yours I'll let you when.

Thanks for listening and writing, it is appreciated,

Mike

Thanks Mike! I sure did enjoy your podcasts! I plan on listening to more of them later. Beatlebob mentioned you also have high quality Beatles Christmas fanclub messages too. Cool! I'm a fan of Buddy Holly & The Crickets! And lots of other Oldies music, even going as far back as the 1930s too. Do you know who Ricky Nelson is? That's my favorite musician and The Beatles are of course my favorite band lol Have a nice day! :)
